Babar Azam Move Ahead of Kohli and Gayle as Fastest to Score 9,000 T20 Runs

Player Babar Azam

Newstoday: Babar Azam, skipper of Peshawar Zalmi, put in another fantastic effort in the first eliminator of the present eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Babar struck a magnificent half-century against Islamabad United at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, propelling his team to a great 12-run victory. The right-handed hitter scored 64 runs against 39 balls, including 10 boundaries.

The 28-year-old hitter surpassed West Indian batting legend Chris Gayle on the record of fastest 9,000 runs in the shorter format with this match-winning performance. The Lahore-born cricketer hit the 9,000-run mark in just 245 T20 innings, four fewer than the former West Indies commander, who had done so in 249 matches.
