Supreme Court Cancels Faisal Vawda lifetime disqualification

Faisal Vawda' disqualification

NewsToday: After offering an emphatic apology to the court, the Supreme Court of Pakistan removed the life ban that had barred former PTI leader Faisal Vawda from standing for office.

A three-member panel of the highest court considered the Electoral Commission of Pakistan's decision to disqualify Vawda for life. The panel was headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial and composed of Justices Syed Mansoor Ali Shah and Ayesha Malik (ECP).

As part of a lifetime ban imposed by the electoral commission in February, Vawda will not be able to run for the national assembly elections in the 2018 general elections. The chief justice called Vawda to court today to allow him to apologize and recognize his error after lying to the courts for three years.
