Lt General Asim Munir to Become New Army Chief of Pakistan

NewsToday: Following the retirement of General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Lt. General Asim Muneer was appointed as the 11th Chief of the Army of Pakistan.

According to the information provided, Lt. General Asim Munner would assume the duties of the country's most significant post upon his promotion to full General.

In the meantime, Lt. General Sahir Shamshad Mirza has been appointed as the 17th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee. On paper, he ranked CJCSC, which is the highest level in the military post. Defence Minister provided the Prime Minister with six suggested names before the appointment. According to the report, the summary included the names of the generals in order of seniority and performance.

 On November 29, the government will formally take over General Bajwa's position, which he has held for the past six years.
