NEPRA Raised the Electricity Tariff by Rs. 1.61 Per Unit

Newstoday:The esteemed (NEPRA) has recently issued a notification, whereby it has been announced that the electricity tariff shall be augmented by Rs. 1.61 per unit under fuel adjustment charges for the month of April 2023. This decision has been taken after conducting a hearing on May 31, 2023, and it shall be implemented in the upcoming billing cycle of June 2023.

It is pertinent to mention that the current tariff increase shall exclude the lifeline consumers and electric vehicle charging stations, while the consumers across the country shall witness a separate hike in their bills. NEPRA has announced an electricity tariff increase of Rs. 1.61 per unit for April 2023. This excludes lifeline consumers and EV charging stations, but all other consumers will experience a separate hike in their bills. The DISCOs, except K-Electric, must show the tariff hike on April 2023 billed units. CPPA had earlier requested a tariff hike of Rs. 2.01/kWh citing the cost of energy production from various sources.
