Pakistan Grave Concerns Over Recurring Theft And Unlawful Sale of Nuclear Materials In India
- 13, August , 2024
News Today: Pakistan voiced serious concerns over the arrest of another gang by India, found involved in possession of illegal radioactive material and Californium worth US$100 million. The Foreign Office Spokesperson of Pakistan, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch spotlighted the surging frequency of such malafide activities as a signal of grave worry. Responding to the reporters' questions, Mumtaz highlighted a similar pattern of thefts of toxic material, Californium, reported in 2021.
Moreover, she also mentioned that five individuals were taken into custody in Dehradun. The culprits were apprehended with an explosive device supposedly stolen from the BARC in Mumbai. Pakistan’s FO requested the international community to demand a transparent disclosure from Indian regularities on how these SRS materials like Californium culminated in the possession of criminals. These prohibited activities are a sheer indicator of the presence of black market for sensitive materials within India.
