Police Launch Digital Challan to Reduce Traffic Violations
- 17, November , 2022
NewsToday: The Lahore Traffic Police Department has launched a digital challan system. The manual challan books for violators in Pakistan's second-largest metropolis were replaced. Another innovation project replaced manual challan books with the objective of reducing ticket issuance errors. The Payment Slip Identification (PSID) code on the e-challan book is linked to an online system. Violators will receive a challan SMS from 8070 immediately.
According to sources, the digital project was planned roughly six years ago as part of the Intelligent Traffic Management System. The prototype initiative will be expanded to include the entire provincial capital. The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), in partnership with the City Traffic Police (CTP), launched the e-challan system in Lahore in 2018, issuing e-challans to locations registered with vehicle IDs.
