News Today: Dr. Malik Mukhtar, Prime Minister's Coordinator for Health, has proposed eliminating MD CAT and allowing universities to have automatic admissions.
The National Assembly Standing Committee on Health met yesterday at the PMDC Secretariat in which Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Health Dr. Malik Mukhtar proposed to abolish the common entry test MCAT for medical universities and allow universities to have automatic admissions.
Dr. Malik Mukhtar said that provincial medical universities should also register themselves for MD CAT, while PMDC should issue licenses to doctors only after conducting the national licensing exam.
In the committee meeting, members said that supplementary and improvement students should not be admitted to medical and dental colleges this year, the matter of supplementary and improvement should be taken to PMDC, while it was also suggested that students should be allowed to enter. Sit for MD CAT only in your province.
It should be noted that the 2024 MD CAT test was marred by alleged irregularities on a large scale, which raised many concerns.
