Railway Stations To Get Solar Panels Soon

Newstoday: PM Shehbaz recently announced a comprehensive strategy to build and develop the Pakistan railway in an innovative way under solar panels installment. The reason behind this installment is to save electricity and for climate change. According to the release, the solar panels would be put at 45 railway stations and offices in major cities like Karachi, Multan and Lahore, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and also Sukkur with a budget of Rs 40 million. According to reports, the Pakistan Railway has chosen to build 3 sites in Peshawar, 5 in Rawalpindi divisions,, three in Quetta division, 5 in the Karachi division and nearly twenty in the Lahore division, and lastly four in the Multan division, five in the Sukkur division, According to authorities, after the successful completion of this effort, solar panel would be installed around the countries at major cities. Solar panels will, indeed, increase the real-world potential of railway lines.

The initiative has been made to create and save power using alternate energy sources. Previously, in 2023, the PR railway director Nazia Jabeen claimed that the project would cost around Pakistani Rs 450 million. According to estimates given by the (NEPRA), Pakistan now has a capacity of little under 2 GW and a target of 12.8 GW by 2030.
