Sindh to Get Several Hundred Hybrid Buses for Public Transport

Newstoday: According to a high-ranking official in Sindh, the government has plans to purchase a significant number of Chinese hybrid buses in the upcoming fiscal year. Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel explained that these buses have been chosen for their exceptional fuel efficiency, and the government intends to acquire more of them in the future. The Sindh government has allocated a budget of Rs. 10 billion for 500 hybrid buses in FY 2023-24, as part of a larger transport budget of Rs. 13.4 billion. Within this budget, Rs. 6.1 billion has been set aside for the Intra-District People’s Bus Service, Rs. 2 billion for transport infrastructure, and Rs. 600 million for new routes. Furthermore, the Sindh Secretariat staff will soon propose three new routes for BRT services. During the Sindh Assembly budget session, Chief Minister and Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presented a state budget of Rs. 2.2 trillion for various developmental projects.
