Supreme Court Ordered State Bank to Release Funds for Punjab Elections

Newstoday:  The Supreme Court's three-judge panel expressed displeasure with the non-implementation of its ruling regarding the postponement of Punjab elections. The court, led by Pakistan’s Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, heard the matter in chambers and instructed the State Bank of Pakistan to deliver funds immediately to the Pakistan Election Commission. Sima Kamil, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, as well as special secretary of finance, additional secretary of finance, ECP secretary, and Attorney General of Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan, appeared before the bench. Judges also show displeasure and notified that the orders must be implemented. ECP also submit a report to the apex court where they stated that the Federal government has not provided the funds for elections.
