UK Appoint First Female British High Commissioner to Pakistan

Newstoday: Mane Marriott OBE has been appointed by UK as the new British High Commissioner to Pakistan. She is set to take on this role in mid-July, becoming the first woman to hold this position. Prior to this, Jane Marriott served as the High Commissioner to Kenya from September 2019 to June 2023, where she achieved several significant milestones. One of her key accomplishments was the establishment of a UK-Kenya Strategic Partnership, which strengthened relations in areas such as sustainable development, security, and climate change. The British High Commission expressed appreciation for her contributions, which included the launch of clean energy initiatives and the facilitation of cooperation between the UK and Kenya in establishing the first Kenyan Marine Commando Unit.

Jane also played a role in restoring deforested land and creating a digital access program in partnership with Kenyan tech leaders. The statement highlighted her extensive experience in dealing with thematic and regional issues, gained from over two decades of working in the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and holding various positions in the Cabinet Office and Home Office.
