News Today:  A foreign news agency reported that hackers accessed the bank's IT system and transferred funds.

Unnamed sources told Uganda's state-run newspaper that a hacking group based in Southeast Asia sent part of the stolen money to Japan, but the bank recovered half of it.

Some banks in Uganda are reluctant to publicly acknowledge cyberattacks that have hit their financial services, including telecom firms.
