Mpox Outbreak Raised the Health Alarms in Pakistan

Monkeypox

News Today:  KP registered two Monkeypox cases, the provincial health sector submitted on Friday. The nationwide tally has reached three so far. A day earlier, the first case of mpox was reported and National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) issued a prompt advisory of stringent measures to tackle the disease. WHO declared the outbreak a serious health emergency of international concern.

The situation worsened after the cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) surged and spread to nearby countries. The provincial health department of Pakistan detected monkeypox viral infection in patients who recently arrived from the UAE. However, it is not clear yet, which variant of monkeypox was detected in the patients. This viral disease can cause acute rash, enlarged lymph nodes, and severe fever, the WHO official website shares.
