NewsToday: On December 30, 2000, the Pakistan Muslim League (N) will hold a central council and general council meeting to elect the party's president, general secretary, and other leaders.

In public, there is a discussion of voting for Maryam Nawaz, the party's vice-president, as president. Still, the party officials who share power with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif believe it is best to keep silent on the matter.

Senator Raja Muhammad Zafarul Haq, Chairman of the Muslim League (N), revealed that prominent members believe Maryam Nawaz Sharif should be chosen as party president so that Shahbaz Sharif may focus on the prime ministership.
