Punjab Police Issues Driver’s Licenses to 62 Transsexual Drivers

Newstday: The Punjab government has recently given the issued driver's licences to 62 transgender people in a new "first." The goal is to urge everyone to acquire a driver's licence and have it with them at all times.According to media sources, the candidates were trained at Punjab police driving schools. According to Dr. Usman Anwar, Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police, the agency currently has 64 driving schools across Punjab, up from 32 last year.

This year, the agency granted 1.6 million driver's licences, up from 600,000 the previous year. Furthermore, it granted 400,000 licences in June 2023, up from 100,000 in the same month the previous year.The Liberty Driving Licencing Centre in Lahore issued 16,000 licences in June 2023, up from 2,000 the previous year. Rawalpindi also issued 916,000 licenses this year comparing last year.
