Newstoday: Instant messaging service WhatsApp includes several backup options for your chat history, including the ability to save old messages and other files to a cloud storage service like Google Drive. These Meta-owned platform alternatives allow users to restore conversation history while switching to a new phone or if they accidentally lose conversations; nevertheless, the previous options were not easy, pushing some to choose other applications while others elected not to restore data.

WhatsApp has released a new data transfer function that simplifies the multi-step process of recovering chats and files on a new smartphone without the use of cloud backups. Thanks to a QR code service, users will now be able to share data over Wi-Fi Direct. This program is available for only Beta users and will be available to all users in the next few days. They ensure that data is only transmitted between two devices that are entirely encrypted.
