Users Can Download Apps from Play Store after Credit Card Payment
- 29, November , 2022
NewsToday: After the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) denied payments worth $34 million to international service providers, mobile customers in Pakistan would no longer be able to acquire Google Play Store services for free after December 1, 2022.
According to media sources, when Google Play Store services are blocked, Pakistani users can pay using a credit or debit card and then download Google and other overseas apps.
However, the State Bank changed the Direct Carrier Billing (DCB) method, resulting in mobile operators paying 34 million dollars per year to offshore service providers such as Google, Amazon, and Meta, among others.
It should be noted that the Information Technology and Telecommunications Ministry, the PTA, and the CMOS sent a joint letter to the State Bank of Pakistan, in which the DCB expressed its concerns. A request is submitted to overturn the cancellation decision.
