He started serving people from the day of Pakistan's independence and started his first ambulance in 1948 with a single vehicle. The aim of his life and the service purpose was to provide medical assistance to the people of Pakistan who need transportation during an injury to reach the out fast hospital safely. Over the years, his extraordinary ambulance service has grown exceptionally throughout the country, and a total of 500 vehicles are running on the roads of his name. The foundation he started the name Edhi Foundation operates in Pakistan, covering both urban and rural areas.

The fleet comprises various vehicles, such as vans, mini-ambulances, and fully-equipped mobile clinics. This funding is used to cover various expenses, such as maintenance, fuel, medical supplies, and staff salaries, required to sustain and expand the fleet's operations. Abdul Sattar Edhi's unwavering devotion to humanitarian service and his tireless efforts to establish and grow the ambulance fleet have had a significant impact on emergency medical services in Pakistan. His selflessness and dedication to serving others have earned him recognition both nationally and internationally as a leading philanthropist.
