Emirates Winning Flight With 100% Carbon-Free Sustainable Aviation Fuel

NewsToday: A historic flight milestone was accomplished by an Emirates aircraft using 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Emirates Airline used 777-300ER in its flight demonstration for 100% sustainable aviation fuel. Captain Fali Wajeefdar and Captain Khalid Naseer Akram flew the aircraft for more than an hour over Dubai's coastline after it took off from Dubai International Airport (DXB).

The SAF's demonstration flight is particularly significant because the UAE has proclaimed 2023 to be the "Year of Stability." The UAE's dedication to coming up with novel solutions to problems like energy, climate change, and other sustainability-related problems will be on display this year. The aim of the carbon-free flight is to reduce the carbon dioxide emission from the climate change. These flights will aid in the improvement of the SAF playbook and future certification when aircraft can run on 100% drop-in SAF fuel. All aircraft can currently use SAF, but only up to 50% of conventional jet fuel can currently be blended with SAF.
