Govt Imposed Section 144 in Lahore due to PTI’s ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’

Jail Bharo Tehreek

Newstoday: In response to the former ruling PTI's announcement of voluntary arrests and movement from the city, the caretaker administration in Punjab has implemented Section 144 in three locations in the regional capital Lahore for just a period of seven days. The extra chief secretary issued a notification outlawing all gatherings, sit-ins, and processions from the route of  Mian Mir Bridge to the route of Istanbul Chowk, the Civil Secretariat, and the areas around those locations along Main Boulevard Gulberg. It added that rallies and protests pose significant security risks because Mall Road and main boulevard Gulberg Lahore contain highly sensitive historical sites and business areas. PSL will go to Lahore on February 26; a sizable crowd is expected to travel via Main Boulevard Gulberg to the Qaddafi Stadium during that time. The Imran Khan-led party will profit from the latest action by the Naqvi-led caretaker setup in its court arrest campaign as it offers legal justification for arrest.

Imran Khan, the head of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, declared last week that his party's "Jail Bharo Tehreek" will launch from the capital of Punjab on Wednesday in a demonstration against the persecution of PTI leaders and the state of the economy.
