Govt Increase BISP Allocation from Rs. 7000 to Rs. 8750

Newstoday: Ms. Shazia Marri who is the Federal Minister working on reducing Poverty and providing Social Safety and also a Chairperson of the Benazir Income, was informed that the government increased the budgetary allocation of the Benazir Income Support Programme from Rs 250 billion to Rs 400 billion, a 60% increase in this budget. On Wednesday, she presided over a meeting to examine the development of BISP activities at its headquarters. According to the state news agency, the secretary of the BISP, Yusuf Khan, and the program's directors informed the minister of the status of several programs. The Chairman of BISP was also informed that the government has raised Benazir Kafaalat funding for worthy citizens by 25%. These stipends have been increased from Rs. 7000 to Rs. 8750 every quarter.

Now, Rs 8500 is being paid for the quarterly payment from January to March, while Rs 9000 will be paid for the quarterly installment from April to June. The number of Benazir Kafaalat recipients has also grown from 7.6 million to 9 million families.
