Newstoday: Amir Mehmood Kiyani, a prominent member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), announced his retirement from politics. Kiyani also stated that he will leave the PTI after the May 9 attacks on security officers during a news conference at the Islamabad News Club He told the media that his family background and he belongs to the army family background and I respect it.  He added that the May 9th violence was a traumatic experience for everyone.

Kiyani also stated that he is "affiliated" with the army. Further, he said that we should stay in our domain rather than indulge ourselves in other domains. In his speech in parliament, he told everyone that, the army protects us and our families so that we can sleep peacefully. It is our duty to respect them. The recent situation happening in Pakistan is some people targeting the army for all this stuff and some are embracing them. Hundreds of the protestors blocked the roads out of which 8 men got killed and thousands got injured.
