Lahore High Court Ban Tree Cutting to Control Smog in Lahore

NewsToday: In an effort to reduce smog in the city, (LHC) on Friday prohibited tree chopping and recommended that a law be passed making it a crime. When a petition for smog management was being heard, Justice Shahid Karim made the comments.

Justice Karim stated during the hearing that the smog in Lahore is already quite terrible and shouldn't get any worse by cutting down trees. The Environment Department was directed by the court to refrain from issuing no objection certificates (NOCs) for removing trees for any project.
