Newstoday: The defense minister has rejected their request to provide security services and force for KPK and Punjab assembly elections and by-elections. The elections commission sent a request to the defense minister for armed forces helped to provide security forces at the time of elections. According to the department, the rangers and frontiers corps are not easily workable for the upcoming by-elections. After the minister responded, the Pakistan interior minister asked for apologies. Recent statements by the defense minister to the interior secretary indicate that the armed forces are involved in managing border and internal security.
The force would only be available from Feb 27 to April 3, as the threat of terrorism is high in the country, said the defense ministry.
