Punjab Increases Non-AC Bus Fares Up to 267%

Newstoday: The Punjab government increased non-AC bus transport fees by as much as 267%. The decision has sent waves of shock across the population, which is already struggling with rising living costs. The significant increase will likely limit the population's access to basic transportation.

In response to growing inflation, the rates were raised on April 25. Inflation-affected citizens are concerned that the situation will make travel nearly impossible. According to the report, the fares raised by 267% for those passengers traveling in the city. 4-kilometer travel currently cost Rs 14 whereas the tariff rises to Rs 47. Due to the high price of fuel, people have left their private transport and availed the opportunity of public transport. But due to the high petrol prices, bus drivers also raise their fares.
