monkey pox

NewsToday: M pox is a new name the World Health Organization recommended for monkeypox illness.

According to a World Health Organization proclamation issued in Geneva, the new name of monkeypox has been recommended in cooperation with international specialists.

"M pox" and Monkeypox will be interchangeable for one year.

The World Health Organization's announcement says that the organization would henceforth refer to monkeypox as 'M-pox' in future pronouncements.

It should be noted that the name "human monkeypox" was given to the disease when it was transmitted from monkeys to humans in 1970.
