50 Members of 10 Hindu Families Embrace Islam

Hindu Families

Newstoday: 50 individuals from 10 Hindu families have converted to Islam. The ceremony was attended by Mohammad Shamroz Khan, son of Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood, the Minister for Religious Affairs, at the Bait-ul-Iman seminary in New Muslim Colony. The converts will be staying at a local facility established in 2018 for four months, where they will learn about their new religion and be provided with clothing, food, and medicine.

While the organization supporting the converts has stated that hundreds of individuals have converted to Islam in the last five years, Hindu activists have expressed their disappointment and frustration with the practice. Faqir Shiva Kucchi, a prominent Hindu activist, has alleged that the state is involved in the conversions and that local religious leaders take advantage of economically underprivileged individuals by offering them financial support. He added that the issue of conversions in Sindh is of grave concern, and that the participation of the federal minister's son in the ceremony is particularly worrying.
