NewsToday: About 500 police officers with Pakistani ancestry work for the New York police department. The volunteer force for the New York Police Department has been led by a Pakistani-American police officer, who instantly dedicated this extraordinary accomplishment to his own Pakistan.

A 30-year veteran of the New York police, Nasir Saleem, is also recognized as the first American-Muslim to lead from the front of the approximately 5,000-strong unit that provides "eyes and ears" to the regular police in the city's neighborhoods.There are additional members who the NYPD employs as police officers.
