Couple Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Dancing on the Road in Iran

NewsToday: The Iranian government sentenced a couple to ten years in prison for dancing in public. In an Iranian street dance video that has gone viral on social media, a couple is seen dancing in the street. According to international news reporters, an Iranian court sentenced the couple for promoting nudity, corruption, and propaganda, which is against their moral laws and rules. On Tehran's Azadi Tower, 21-year-old Astiaz Haqqi and her fiancé, Amir Mohammad Ahmadi, posted a dance video that quickly gaining popularity.

As well as being asked to leave the country, the couple will not be allowed to use social media for two years. There is no connection between the couple's dance and the ongoing protests in Iran in response to the death of Mahsa Amini, a woman in police custody who died.
