PTA Cannot Block any Website without IT Ministry Permission

NewsToday: The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications must be consulted before the (PTA) can prohibit any website. On February 6, the prime minister formed the committee in response to PTA blocking Wikipedia. Along with other committee members, Azam Nazeer Tarar, who is the minister of law, and Syed Naveed Qamar, the minister of commerce, attended the meeting. During the meeting, it was mentioned that: the “ministerial committee is against those things who refrain, people, work from development. Further minister said in the meeting that blocking the websites means cutting yourself off from the digital world and eventually breaking the branches from social and economic disadvantages.

Moreover, the aim of the committee is to promote the environment by creating awareness among the people to not let people visit such objectionable sites. Committee decided that PTA must consult with the Information technology ministry before blocking any websites.
