PTCL Shows Interest to Buy Majority Shares of Telenor Pakistan

NewsToday: Pakistan's largest telecommunication company PTCL is interested in acquiring Telenor operations and its management shares in the majority. Sigve Brekke, the CRO of Telenor, has tweeted that they are looking for merging opportunities in Pakistan. This move will bring the strategic shift and focus from regional to international European markets. Telenor Group is operating its market in 9 regions worldwide in Europe and Asia and is now focussing on turning into European markets. Also, recently they have cooperated and merged their operation in Thailand.

Telenor also covered its operation in India, Indonesia and Myanmar. The final announcement is yet to make, and soon it will be updated. There are around 345 headquarters of PTCL officials in Islamabad, whereas Telenor is planning to depart from Pakistan. PTCL will merge with Ufone and Telenor Pakistan, which covers 72 million users.
