UAE Become 1st Muslim Country to Reach Surface of Moon

News Today: Soon, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will set foot on the moon for the first time as a Muslim nation. Rashid, a lunar rover for the UAE, was launched by a SpaceX rocket from a launch facility in the US state of Florida.

The rocket is carrying a lander and a rover for the Japanese business Spacex, which will gather lunar dust and sell it to NASA, the US space agency. The Space lander disengaged from the UAE rocket more than 35 minutes after liftoff.

After the lander split, SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket successfully returned to Earth. Although the UAE has successfully launched missions to Mars in the past, this will be its first effort to land a rover on the moon.

The 10-kg lander would be the first mission from a Muslim nation to successfully settle on the moon surface. Although the launch was successful, lunar landings are difficult because more than a third of such missions fail. Israeli and Indian endeavors to explore the moon recently both failed.

The lander and rover will arrive at the lunar surface in five months. Spacecraft have a difficult time landing on the moon because there is no climate there.
